Scare as matatu rams into tanker full of fuel on Mombasa Road(photos)

- The tanker which was full of fuel was attempting to give way to a speeding police vehicle

Tens of passengers have escaped death by a whisker after a matatu they were travelling in hit a tanker from behind.

The tanker which was full of fuel was attempting to give way to a speeding police vehicle when it was engaged in the accident on Friday, February 17.

One of the passengers in the matatu identified as Sheila Kayaro said on Facebook that only two passengers were injured and that the tanker did not explode during the accident which occurred at around 8:30 am.

"Saved by the Grace of God our PSV hit a tanker full of super petrol on Mombasa road near Sameer Business(Park).I talked to the tanker driver and he said that he was forced to abruptly give way to the the seemingly police car that was on a high speed .I was awakened by the sirens ,the next thing a bang and people screaming.By the mercy of God the tanker did not catch fire.Two people sustained minor injuries," she said.
